This Sunday WWE host WrestleMania Backlash from the Dunkin’ Donuts Arena in Providence, Rhode Island.

It is the first Premium Live Show since WrestleMania weekend in Dallas last month and is headlined by the I Quit match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey. So far only six matches have been announced, with just Flair’s defence the only title bout.

GiveMeSport previews the big event and throws out some predictions on which Superstars will come out on top.

Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss

Being Corbin’s sidekick has done wonders for Moss, who has long been thought highly of by higher ups, but they’ve struggled to find a place for. Having him as Corbin’s lovable lacky has made the babyface turn inevitable and given him a real spotlight on SmackDown, where he seems to have become popular enough with fans to warrant having this match on a big show.

Corbin is pretty Teflon as a heel and can ride losses reasonably well, however, I can see this one continuing on the blue brand. A dodgy win for the former King of the Ring would add sympathy for Moss and make the eventual win all the sweeter when the tricky task of moving Moss on the next step presents itself.

Winner: Happy Corbin

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos w/MVP

The first of four WrestleMania rematches on the card, this feud has been given some extra spice since Dallas thanks to the turn of MVP on Lashley. The allegiance with Omos makes sense, given the big man’s need for a mouthpiece, and it’s helped cement The Almighty’s full babyface turn.

As Lashley got the win over Omos at WrestleMania and given the need to keep ‘The Colossus’ strong - especially he has only recently teamed with MVP - I’d expect a win for Omos, probably thanks to an assist from Lashley’s former ally.

Winner: Omos

AJ Styles vs. Edge

Their match at WrestleMania had super high expectations and unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to them, so they get to go again in Rhode Island. The interesting twist in this bout is Damian Priest being barred from ringside, which I suspect leads to one of two things. Either Priest eventually ignores the stipulation and interferes anyway, causing AJ Styles to win by DQ, and the pair to continue to beatdown on Styles until we get another save from Finn Balor.

Or, with Styles in control we see the emergence of a new member of Judgement Day that costs AJ the match and beefs out Edge’s new stable that little bit more. I expect that to happen at some point anyway, so with that stipulation in place in makes sense to add to the fold now. And I wouldn’t rule out the new member being The Prince, finally giving Balor renewed purpose on the main roster.

Winner: AJ Styles via disqualification

Cody Rhodes vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins

A hard act to follow for Rhodes and Rollins, especially from an emotional investment point of view thanks to Rhodes dramtic comeback as Seth’s surprise opponent at WrestleMania. Expect more of the same from an in-ring perspective in this one, with the pair going back and fourth with close falls and Rollin’s leaning in to his heel persona to tease going too far to get the victory over The American Nightmare.

Ultimatley though, it feels way too soon to dent the momentum of Rhodes big WWE return and if he is to be taken seriously as a real contender to the WWE title picture, then it makes sense for him to get one over The Visonary once again.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) vs. The Bloodline (Roman Reigns and The Usos)

WWE clearly decided that the tag match wasn’t enough of a sell nor was it time to unify the tag team titles, so it’s been made into a six-man tag. It does have a touch of a main event Raw or SmackDown match, but it doesn’t negate the fact that is packed full of main event level talent and those intertwining feuds that make multi-man matches so fun.

You’d assume Reigns is still feeling the effects of the shoulder injury he suffered at WrestleMania, which is why we aren’t seeing a singles match here, but the six-man element gives him a nice entry point to really kick-off a feud with Drew, who looks destined to be Roman’s next challenger - and probably one with the most chance of downing the Tribal Chief. With that in mind, and because Roman doesn’t need to take the pin, I see the faces going over and adding the first layer of Drew and Reign’s big money showdown at some point down the road.

Winners: Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro

Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey

I Quit Match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship

For many this rivalry hasn’t quite clicked as well as hoped, but there’s every possibility of Charlotte and Ronda knocking it out of the park in this one and finishing the feud on a high. We’ve never seen Rousey in this type of stipulation before, so it will be intriguing to see how she performs outside a ‘normal match’ environment. Although expect the ‘quitting’ to come through a series of her submission moves, rather than some of the spots we’ve seen from this type of matches in the past.

As for a winner, this simply has to go to Rousey. If WWE are intent on making her the focal point of the women’s division, there’s not many places she can go if she suffers another loss to Flair and another failed championship attempt.

Winner: Ronda Rousey
