A new report has stated that WWE seem to have been ‘definitely impressed’ with W. Morrisey after his AEW debut on Dynamite this week.
W. Morrisey, known as Big Cass in WWE, competed on this week’s AEW Dynamite as the mystery opponent chosen by MJF to face Wardlow.
The five-minute performance, where he more than stood his own against Mr Mayhem, didn’t go unnoticed either. Speaking on a recent episode of Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Andrew Zarian stated that he had been told that those within in WWE were very impressed with his match, and that several people are keeping tabs on W. Morrisey and his contract status.
I’m not gonna say that WWE is gonna take him but I can tell you that WWE is definitely impressed by him,”
There’s no way around it, man. I got a message last night while he’s coming out and somebody wrote, ‘did you see this F’N guy?
The 6ft ’10 star signing with the company in 2011 and being part of Florida Championship wrestling before it evolved into NXT. He was later teamed with Enzo Amore and together the pair would form one the most popular tag teams in NXT, and later when they moved up to Raw.
The team was spilt in 2018, and although Cass was given an initial push to the upper card – even becoming Daniel Bryan’s first major feud following his comeback from retirement – he was released later that year, with reports of behavioural issues backstage.
Since his release, the 35-year-old, now under the name W. Morrisey, has reportedly shed the demons that saw him released from WWE and got himself in better shape than we’d ever seen in during his days on NXT and Raw.
In April last year he joined IMPACT Wrestling, where a string of impressive displays led to him finding his way to AEW and his debut this week as the opponent for Wardlow.
