A young WWE fan jumped the barricade to embrace Cody Rhodes at Friday Night SmackDown last night.

After last night’s episode of WWE SmackDown went off the air, Cody Rhodes appeared and went one-on-one with Seth Rollins.

The pair went one-on-one at WrestleMania 38, in Cody’s first match back with WWE, and they’ll be sharing the ring again tomorrow at WrestleMania Backlash.

Rhodes has been rather popular with the fans since coming back to WWE, and in the eyes of many, is now WWE’s top babyface.

Cody’s popularity was on full display last night, as footage has emerged of a young fan jumping the barricade after SmackDown to speak to him.

Cody was going around the fans at ringside after the show, taking pictures with them, when a young fan jumped over the barricade to speak to him.

Security did rush over to Cody, as you can see below, but the 36-year-old dealt with the situation like an ultimate pro, and chatted to the kid.

Cody has now responded to the viral clip in a tweet, saying that the whole interaction “popped him”.

The WWE Raw star revealed that the kid did manage to get his picture taken with him, so it was a happy ending for all involved.

As noted, Rhodes has been on the Raw roster since returning to WWE at the beginning of April at WrestleMania.

He’s been regularly involved in the top segments on the show, with some episodes of Raw even being entirely built around him.

The likely direction WWE is going to go down, either for this year or next, is for Cody to face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Some have even speculated that, given his desire to win the WWE title for the first time, that WWE could pick Cody as the man to dethrone Reigns.
