Bruno Fernandes responds as Man Utd fans chant ‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt’

Bruno Fernandes faced the media after Manchester United slumped to one of their most embarrassing defeats of the Premier League era away at Brighton on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils lost 4-0 at the Amex Stadium with Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard all getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.
The result marks a new low for United in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. They will now end the 2021-22 season with fewer points than their previous lowest Premier League tally, recorded during David Moyes’s ill-fated campaign in charge.
Fifty-six goals conceded in a Premier League season is also a record for Premier League’s fallen giants.
Ralf Rangnick’s side were outfought and outclassed by Brighton over the course of the 90 minutes.

If Erik ten Hag wasn’t already aware of the size of the task facing him when he takes the reins at Old Trafford this summer, he certainly will be now.
Man Utd fans chanted ‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt’
United’s loyal away supporters even turned on the team, chanting “You’re not fit to wear the shirt” at the players.
Here’s footage of United’s travelling supporters singing it:

What did Bruno Fernandes say after Brighton 4-0 Man Utd?
Asked if the chant was deserved, Fernandes told Sky Sports: “I include myself in that. What we did today, what I did today, was not enough to be in a Man Utd shirt and I accept it.”

The Portuguese midfielder continued: “The result is what it is. It is not good enough. They outplayed us. They always had a solution. Pressed us better and they deserved the result.”
And in terms of what went wrong, Fernandes added: “A little bit of everything. Quality. Mentality. They deserved to win, and we deserve to be in the position we are in now.
“It’s something that we have to look at and be embarrassed about because that was not good enough from us and we have to do much better.”

Fernandes and his Man Utd teammates now have a two-week break before their final home game of the season against Crystal Palace on May 22.
