Floyd Mayweather scooped a whopping $52k after placing a $10k bet on Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to lose his bout with Dmitry Bivol.

Bivol shocked the world in the early hours of Sunday morning, as he defeated Canelo via unanimous decision.

The Mexican had moved up in weight to challenge Bivol for his WBA light heavyweight strap, but was unsuccessful in his quest for further greatness.

It’s fair to say that Bivol pulled off the unlikely, as Canelo had only been beaten once before. His only loss prior to tonight came at the hands of Mayweather himself, who outpointed him in 2013.

It’s fair to say that Mayweather had a little more faith in Bivol than most of us did, however, as he placed an incredibly ambitious $10k bet on him to beat Canelo, which he came out of $42k richer.

The undefeated champion took to Instagram to share his bet slip, captioning the post, “easy pick up.”

Floyd Mayweather's bet on Canelo to lose

In 2019, Mayweather was named the highest-paid athlete of the decade, amassing a whopping $915 million in career earnings. Needless to say, he’s far short of a pretty penny!

Mayweather is no stranger to gambling, as he previously bet $13 million on the Broncos to win the Super Bowl. He also won big with a $50k bet against Conor McGregor after he was defeated by Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Coming into the bout against Canelo, Bivol was a big betting underdog. It seemed to be the case of “big risk, big reward” for Floyd, who gave the bookies plenty of problems tonight!
