Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has reacted to rumours linking Fernando Alonso with a switch to his team, and suggested that it's not going to happen.

The Spaniard is contracted to the Alpine team for at least the rest of this season and there is of course every chance he will extend his stay with them into future campaigns.

However, he is also being linked away with other moves, with the likes of Aston Martin being touted as a potential destination.

That's been one of the topics in the paddock at the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, then, and Sky Sports pundit Karun Chandhok has had this to say on what he has heard, with him throwing Red Bull's name in there too:

“There are rumours in the paddock this morning I heard, one about Fernando potentially going to Aston Martin to take over from Sebastian Vettel,” said Chandhok.

“And another about Fernando and Flavio [Briatore] banging on the door at Red Bull, saying he is prepared to be a team-mate to Max Verstappen and have a good car for the last couple of years of his F1 career."

Conveniently enough, Horner is on the pitwall this weekend to speak to Sky Sports and so the suggestion was put to him, though he batted it away pretty convincingly:

“That’s news to me!

“We are very happy with the drivers we’ve got here.

“Fernando’s a great driver, it’s fantastic he’s still in Formula 1 and given the plus 40 [age], he’s something to aspire to.

“But he doesn’t fit part of our plans.”

In this instance, then, it looks as though Fernando won't be driving for Red Bull any time soon.
