Tonight at WrestleMania Backlash, Cody Rhodes defeated former WWE Champion Seth Rollins in the show's opening match. At WrestleMania last month, Cody Rhodes made his sensational return to WWE, beating Seth Rollins in singles competition. The match took place again at WrestleMania Backlash tonight, with Rollins wanting more time to prepare for this one, given that he didn't know who he'd be facing at WrestleMania.Despite knowing who his opponent would be, and having weeks to scout Cody, the result was the same for Rollins, as Rhodes picked up the win.

The match was so good, in fact, that some fans even labelled it as the 'Match of the Year' so far.

You can read more about the reaction to Rhodes v Rollins too, which has been largely rather positive, by clicking right here.

As noted, Rhodes walked out with the win, in what was his fifth match since returning to WWE, all of which he's won.

However, it wasn't just the win that Cody walked out of Rhode Island with, as can be seen below.

In an image shared by BT Sport on Twitter, Cody has showed off his gruesome wounds from his match with Rollins.

Just as he did in his media appearances after WrestleMania, Cody's body is showing the effects of his war with Rollins, with time with visible welts on his back.

For those that didn't catch the match, Rhodes picked up the win via a rollout, whilst grabbing a handful of Rollins' tights.

The finish to the match likely means that we're going to see a third match between the two at some stage.

WWE heads to Chicago for Hell in a Cell next month, which seems like the perfect time to finish the feud, potentially even inside Hell in a Cell.

You can watch WrestleMania Backlash right now on Peacock in the US, and everywhere else on the WWE Network.
