Antonio Conte could leave Tottenham this summer if the north London club do not get off to a good start in the transfer window, according to insider Dean Jones.

The Spurs manager's future has often come into doubt since he arrived at Hotspur Way back in November, and Jones expects that theme to continue in the coming months.

What is the latest news involving Conte?

Conte recently dismissed speculation linking him with Paris Saint-Germain, describing it as "fake news". However, Tottenham do seem to be preparing for the potential departure of the Italian coach.

According to The Telegraph, Brighton boss Graham Potter is emerging as Spurs' top target to replace Conte if he leaves at the end of the season, though he could cost the club in excess of £10m.

In February, Conte suggested that he could walk away from Tottenham before the end of the campaign, so an exit in the summer would come as no shock.

“This is a disaster. It’s a disaster for a club like Tottenham. It means that sadly it’s not going in the best way," the £15m-a-year manager told talkSPORT after a 1-0 defeat to Burnley.

“I think we have to make an assessment, the club and me, and also make the best decision because I think our fans don’t deserve to lose four games in the last five games."

What has Jones said about Conte and Tottenham?

Conte's future now depends on what happens in the early stages of Tottenham's transfer window, Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

The football journalist said to GMS: "Conte's going to make his decision based on how this transfer window starts to pan out.

"I think he'll get an indication early in June as to what he's actually getting, and I think probably by the start of July, we'll get a clear sign of whether things are going his way or not. If, by that point, there isn't a sign of Conte getting the type of players he needs, then I think his future is definitely in doubt."

What does Conte want in the upcoming transfer window?

Also per The Telegraph, Conte wants up to six new signings when the transfer market is open for business again.

A centre-back, a right wing-back, two midfielders, a forward and a back-up goalkeeper for Hugo Lloris are all thought to be a priority for the former Inter Milan manager.

In terms of players Spurs could target for a couple of those positions, Torino's Gleison Bremer and West Brom shot-stopper Sam Johnstone, who is about to become a free agent, are said to be on the club's radar.

Ultimately, failure to address the above positions, and Tottenham face losing their manager before the 2022/23 season commences.
