Another UFC PPV card came and went over the weekend.

Despite dramatically missing weight, Charles Oliveira went on to submit Justin Gaethje in the first round to become the number one contender after he was stripped of his own title the day before.

The co-main event saw Carla Esparza become the new strawweight champion after defeating Rose Namajunas via split decision.

However, it was Michael Chandler that stole the show in Phoenix.

Chandler faced lightweight veteran Tony Ferguson in what will go down as a sensational bout.

In the first round, it looked like ‘El Cucuy’ was back to his old self, as he was on the front foot with his awkward fighting style.

Despite hunting Chandler down for the majority of the first round, ‘Iron’ Mike was able to land a takedown deep into the round.

Chandler vs Ferguson

With that being said, the fight was over before you knew it in the second round.

Just 17 seconds into the second, Chandler landed a jaw-dropping front kick to the face of Ferguson to secure a brilliant win.

The knockout will unquestionably go down as the knockout of the year in the UFC.

Thankfully, a UFC fan was able to capture live footage of the knockout from near enough the front row and my word is it good.

After the fight, Chandler delivered an eye-catching post-fight interview.

Not only did he call out the winner of the main event, but he also called for a welterweight showdown against Conor McGregor.

With Oliveira being stripped of his title, the lightweight division is in a real mess right now.

A rematch between Oliveira and Chandler for the undisputed title makes sense considering both Gaethje and Dustin Poirier have fought for the title recently.

However, from a marketing standpoint, don’t be surprised if McGregor is thrown straight into a title fight on his return.

In what was a cracking knockout from Chandler, there are plenty of options for Michael heading into the summer of 2022.
