One Manchester United fan put £100 on Liverpool to win the quadruple at the start of the season.

Jurgen Klopp's side are still dreaming of winning all four trophies this campaign having already claimed the Carabao Cup.

They face Chelsea in the FA Cup final this weekend, while they play Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28. The Reds are favourites for both finals, according to bookmakers.

But it's the Premier League title that could scupper Phil Worthington's bet.

The 72-year-old placed the £100 bet on Liverpool winning all four trophies at odds of 1,000/1.

But it was a bad weekend for Liverpool's title hopes as they could only draw against Tottenham on Saturday evening before Man City smashed Newcastle 5-0. It leaves the Reds three points behind with three matches remaining with a slightly inferior goal difference.

But if all goes to plan for Liverpool, Mr Worthington would land a cool £100,000.

Incredibly, he was so confident Liverpool would have a good season that he also bet £170 on three other Liverpool trophy-win combinations that could land £6,500.

Phil, who placed his bets with Ladbrokes, admitted that even as a Man Utd fan he was now cheering on Liverpool. Speaking ahead of this weekend's results, he knew how close he was to a life-changing amount of money.

“I shouldn’t really want Liverpool to win but these bets are very close to coming in," he said.

“If they win six games and City drop a point, I’m quids in.

“I should probably spend the money on flights to see my daughters in Australia and I’ll treat myself to a new car.”

Phil and Liverpool now likely need Man City to lose one of their final three matches if they are to stand any chance of winning the league.

Pep Guardiola's side face trips to Wolves and West Ham this week before finishing the season at home to Aston Villa.

On Sunday, the City boss claimed that everyone in the country is a Liverpool fan. This Man Utd fan certainly is between now and the end of the season...
