WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has put forward the Superstars who he thinks would make the ideal modern-day version of Team Angle.

Kurt Angle put together ‘Team Angle’ in 2003, recruiting young upstarts Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas during their run on SmackDown. Together Benjamin and Haas would win the WWE Tag Team Titles and chalk-up a victory at WrestleMania XIX before they were later fired by Angle and went on to tag under the name ‘World’s Greatest Team’.

Talking on the new episode of the  the Kurt Angle Show, Angle spoke about which current WWE stars he would consider putting together to form a new Team Angle.

You know what I’d like to do? I’d like to manage the Olympians… When Gable Steveson starts his career, he and Chad Gable, that would be the new Team Angle. I would love to do that. That’s what they would be called, The Gables. You got to have Otis in there.

Since Chad Gable’s in 2015 as part of American Alpha alongside Jason Jordan, comparisons have been made between him and WWE Hall of Famer Angle. Jordan would go on to work with Kurt on Raw when he was revealed as Angle’s ‘son’, unfortunately Jordan has now been forced into retirement following a neck injury in 2018.

Angle has previously admitted there were plans for him to work with Gable and Otis earlier this year. However, the storyline for him to be the special guest referee for a match between Alpha Academy and RK-Bro at Elimination Chamber was later nixed.

Chad Gable and Gable Steveson crossed paths last month during a segment following the Raw Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania. Is expected that Steveson will make his Raw debut later this year and will a huge focus on the Olympic gold medallist.
