The current Raw Tag Team champion has regularly dropped Brock Lesnar’s name in conversation since he made his debut with NXT in 2018. So much so the pair have a heated exchange backstage at the 2020 Royal Rumble following Riddle’s comments that he was going to retire Lesnar.
The confrontation led to Brock telling Riddle that the pair would never work together, but two years on that throwaway threat seems to have dispersed after the pair clashed during this year’s Elimination Chamber match.
Speaking with Catch Club ahead of this weekend’s WrestleMania Backlash, Riddle was asked who his dream WrestleMania opponent would be and alongside Edge he put forward Brock’s name. Stating that he might be able to finally get that match.
I mean right now, you’ve got Edge. He’s really good and he’s with Damian Priest, so that would be entertaining. The obvious answer is Brock Lesnar, you know? I’ve been wanting that guy for a minute and then he kind of didn’t want me, but now we’re kind of like [almost on the same level]. I might be able to get in there now. I don’t know if I’ll like the outcome of the match, but of course!
“I had a little taste [at Elimination Chamber 2022]. Things did not go according to plan, I think everybody would agree with that. And Brock broke out of his pod and did what Brock does, you know? Nobody was ready for him and he came in and ‘Brocked’ us, you know? But yeah, I would like that when the time’s right and the build’s right. I think my two — or Randy [Orton]. But right now we’re teaming, you know? I don’t want to put that in the atmosphere, so I’ll say Edge or Brock.”
Lesnar isn’t the only WWE heavyweight that Riddle has had a chequered history with. WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has clashed with The Original Bro on several occasions following comments made by Riddle on the former WWE Universal Champion.
Riddle was in action at last night’s WrestleMania Backlash Premium Live Show, as RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre were defeated by Roman Reigns and The Usos.
