What is the latest news involving Saint-Maximin?
Saint-Maximin has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons recently, giving an interview to French magazine So Foot that did not go down well.
In it, the 25-year-old claimed that he has no reason to be jealous of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, while he also suggested that his assist numbers will go up to 10-15 a season once he is playing alongside a capable finisher.
Since that interview with So Foot, Saint-Maximin has put it out there that his quotes have been taken out of context.
However, manager Eddie Howe still didn’t seem to be too pleased with his player’s comments, with The Telegraph claiming that Saint-Maximin was forced to apologise in front of the squad.

What has Jones said about Saint-Maximin’s Newcastle future?
Whatever the case, Jones thinks Saint-Maximin’s time at St James’ Park could be coming to an end.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the football journalist said: “Saint-Maximin didn’t help himself by asking for a new contract at a time where he probably didn’t need one or maybe deserve one. From what I understand, Newcastle will listen to offers for Saint-Maximin in the summer.”
Who could replace Saint-Maximin at Newcastle?
While they play on opposite flanks, in terms of flair and skill, one player who could replace Saint-Maximin if he does end up leaving Newcastle this summer is Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.
According to FootballTransfers, the Magpies have been offered the chance to sign the Senegal international from the Hornets, who were recently relegated from the Premier League.
Sarr is a good dribbler, completing 1.5 dribbles per game this season, the third-highest average in Watford’s squad (via WhoScored), while he also wins the most fouls per match (2.1).
Ultimately, if Howe decides to sell Saint-Maximin and wants another tricky winger, then Sarr could be his man. And with Watford going down, he should be available for a good price.
Regarding potential destinations for Saint-Maximin, Aston Villa are one club who have been mentioned, while Wolves are also thought to be interested in the former Nice star, so a Premier League stay could be on the cards.
