Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma is on Tottenham's radar this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £45m-rated Dutchman made the switch from Bournemouth last year and has caught the eye following his fine form for the Yellow Submarine.

What's the latest news involving Danjuma?

According to 90min, Spurs sent club officials to watch Danjuma in Villarreal's Champions League semi-final first leg tie with Liverpool earlier this month.

Unfortunately for the Netherlands international, he couldn't help the Spanish outfit reach a first ever European Cup final, but it's unlikely to overshadow what has been a fine first season since he left the Cherries.

Across all competitions, Danjuma, described as 'exceptional' by ex-Bournemouth manager Jonathan Woodgate, has chipped in with 20 goal contributions, seven of which came in the Champions League, including strikes against Juventus and Bayern Munich.

As a result, while Jones believes the 25-year-old is on Fabio Paratici's transfer list, he doesn't think that he's the calibre of player good enough to take Antonio Conte's side to the next level.

What did Jones say about Danjuma?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "They've got Danjuma on their radar. He's a good player, but I don't believe that he's going to increase the ceiling of what this Tottenham team can achieve, so I think this is one they will wait and see on."

How did Danjuma perform against Liverpool?

Spurs' representatives would have travelled to Anfield with high expectations following some of Danjuma's excellent performances in Europe this season.

However, they would have been underwhelmed with what they saw as Villarreal were comfortably brushed aside on Merseyside.

As a result, Danjuma was his side's third-worst starting player on the day, scoring 5.76, with only Pervis Estupinan and Samuel Chukwueze given a lower mark.

In his 85 minutes on the pitch, the Dutchman managed just 18 touches and didn't contribute anything in an attacking sense, with Villarreal extremely defensive on the day.

Danjuma failed to manage a single shot, successful dribble or key pass, and successfully completed just 11 passes during his time on the pitch.

Overall, it was a disappointing display, although Danjuma's lack of attacking invention was more down to Villarreal's defensive approach to the game, which is why Tottenham's representatives would have left Anfield surely more frustrated with Unai Emery than the player himself.
