People close to Tottenham believe that Graham Potter will be a frontrunner to replace Antonio Conte if the Italian leaves this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Conte's recent influence at Spurs was highlighted once again in the 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Saturday, but his future in North London remains up in the air ahead of end-of-season talks.

And Jones reckons that should Conte leave his position as manager, Brighton boss Potter will be at the front of the queue to replace him.

What's the latest news involving Potter?

Despite Tottenham potentially being just three victories away from qualifying for the Champions League, it's not yet clear whether Conte will still be their manager next season.

If Conte doesn't stick around, the Telegraph believe that Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy will turn their attentions to Potter, who's been earning rave reviews for his work at Brighton, and in particular, wins over Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United in recent weeks.

Spurs were heavily linked with Potter last summer following the departure of Jose Mourinho, although Nuno Espirito Santo was eventually appointed instead.

But with Conte's future now under threat, Potter has emerged as a contender once again.

The report says that Tottenham would be forced to pay Brighton £10m for his services, although Paratici has been impressed with his work on the South Coast since he arrived in English football.

What did Jones say about Potter?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "If Pochettino is not available, then it's Graham Potter. They're the only two people that people close to the club say they would consider appointing.

"Potter, it would be interesting to see if he's ready to go to that level and how he would adapt, but if Conte does go, he will definitely be considered."

Would Potter be a good appointment?

While Potter doesn't have the pedigree or eye-catching nature of someone like Mauricio Pochettino, Mourinho or Conte, it's hard not to admire the work that he's doing at Brighton.

15th and 16th place finishes in his two full seasons with the Seagulls were nothing to write home about, but the job he's done this season has been hugely impressive.

Beating Manchester United means that Brighton are not only on course for a first ever top half finish at Premier League level, but they're a couple of points away from finishing above the likes of Leicester, and Aston Villa, two teams who were expected to challenge for Europe.

But it's not just the results, he's managed to get his Brighton side playing attractive and high-risk football, which would surely make him an exciting appointment from a Tottenham perspective, if Conte does decide to walk away.
