BBC pundit's pre-season predictions suggests Guardiola is wrong about Liverpool
Pep Guardiola claimed ‘everyone’ wants Liverpool to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.
After City beat Newcastle 5-0 to move three points clear with three matches remaining, Guardiola conducted a rather bizarre interview.
“Everyone in this country supports Liverpool, the media and everyone,” he claimed.
“Of course because Liverpool has an incredible history in European competition. Not in the Premier League, because they have won one in 30 years, but it is not a problem at all.”

Jurgen Klopp was asked about those Guardiola comments in his press conference on Monday, to which he laughed before replying: “I live in Liverpool. Here a lot of people want us to win the league, that’s true. But even here, probably only 50 per cent!”

But is Guardiola correct? Do the media – and everyone – really support Liverpool?
Well, following his claim, pre-season predictions from 20 BBC pundits have re-emerged on social media.
The likes of Alan Shearer, Micah Richards and Chris Sutton were asked to predict the Premier League top four and the results are rather interesting.

Not a single pundit thought Liverpool would win the league. Considering they all apparently support the Reds, that’s quite surprising – Jermaine Beckford didn’t even think Liverpool would make the top-four!
Instead, 13 pundits predicted Man City would the title with only Rob Green thinking they would finish outside the top two.
Okay, what you predict will happen and what you want to happen are two different things but you’d think there would be at least one pundit suggesting Liverpool will win the league if they supported them.
Elsewhere, everyone predicted Manchester United would finish between 2nd and 4th – something that won’t happen this season. As for Arsenal, who look most likely to finish 4th, nobody thought they would qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Perhaps Guardiola is wrong.
