Floyd âMoneyâ Mayweather recently tried to lure Bolton-born former world champion boxer Amir Khan away from plans of retirement by unofficially offering him the fight he has tried so hard to secure throughout his career.
Khan revealed Mayweather had said behind the cameras of their recent meet-up that they should âget it onâ after the American and the Brit crossed paths in Dubai due to the 45-year-old having an exhibition fight there.
Khan didnât fold on his retired stance, however, as he reiterated what was publicly expected that he would call time on his illustrious career.
As per The Sun, Khan said: âFloyd said to me âLook, we should get it on.â
"And I said âBrother, tomorrow Iâm going to announce my retirement.â And he goes âNo, I donât think you shouldâ.
âObviously, pro fighters say to you all your life âwe should fight each otherâ and they keep you on the side, on the bench and Iâm like forget that man, I want to be in control of myself."
With Khan not budging, this seems to bring a close to the Khan/Floyd saga which never has progressed past talks. Even after persistent heavy rumours since 2014, where Mayweather decided against fighting Khan despite him winning the Twitter poll Money posted which would supposedly decide his next opponent.
Khan justified not taking this fight or any other tempting offers by saying heâs going to do âwhatâs best for himâ.
âWhen I call it a day, I call it a day. I donât not call it a day because someone else is taking control like Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao say now weâll fight you.
"Waiting around and waiting around for them so I thought nah man, Iâll do whatâs best for me.â
The demand for Khanâs services seems to be high after also receiving âa couple of phone calls from Mannyâs teamâ, which Khan is close with, having been the former training partner of.

In reference to those contacts, Khan said: "It was a shock to them because they thought Manny might be able to take that fight. And Iâm like, Hell no."
Having wanted the Manny fight in his prime years, which would be the pinnacle of his esteemed career, Khan furthered revealed: "I donât think that fight was ever going to happen. I donât know why they kept saying they will take this fight."
With Khan rejecting two of the biggest boxing superstars, it does seem clear that this is likely the end of the Britâs career.
