Southampton are set to lose their head of recruitment Martyn Glover to Leicester City, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

Glover has been at St Mary's since 2019, but his time on the South Coast looks set to end in the near future.

What's the latest news involving Glover?

Glover is vastly experienced, having been a part of the recruitment team at numerous clubs over the years, including Everton, Leeds and West Ham.

It seems that his next role is likely to be at the King Power Stadium, with Leicester keen on tempting him away from Southampton.

The Sun have reported that the Foxes have identified him as their ideal replacement for Lee Congerton, who left the Premier League outfit earlier this year.

What has Barclay said about Glover?

Barclay has confirmed that Glover will be joining Leicester, but there is still some uncertainty as to when the switch will happen.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I understand it’s going to happen, it’s just when. Southampton may well make him serve out his notice, which would probably make it go beyond the transfer window this summer.

“So, whether that means he’ll be heavily involved in Southampton’s summer recruitment, you would think so. Although, thinking about it, if he’s out the door, we’ll have to see how they want to do it, because this feels like quite a crucial transfer window for Southampton, particularly if Broja goes back, if he doesn’t come back.

“If they did lose Ward-Prowse, how are they going to go about things?”

Are these worrying times for Southampton fans?

A couple of months ago, things looked very positive for Southampton.

The club looked to be on course for a potential top-half finish, while they were also in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

However, they have lost six of their last nine league games, and look set to only narrowly avoid relegation in the end.

There were calls for Ralph Hasenhuttl to be sacked after the side's dismal 3-0 defeat against Brentford on Saturday, while, as Barclay alluded to, there are some concerns about Armando Broja and James Ward-Prowse potentially leaving when the transfer window opens.

These are two key players for the Saints, and if they move on, along with Hasenhuttl and Glover possibly departing as well, Southampton will have a huge job on their hands heading into next season.
