Now that Liverpool have reached the Champions League final and ahead of Thursday’s Premier League clash between Tottenham and Arsenal, we thought we’d cast our minds back to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s interview that went viral after becoming a European champion in 2019.Oxlade-Chamberlain won the Champions League with Liverpool, two years after ending his spell at Arsenal. And it was Tottenham, Arsenal’s fierce rivals, who Liverpool happened to beat in that final to claim their sixth European Cup.While Oxlade-Chamberlain missed the vast majority of the 2018-19 campaign with a knee injury, he still managed to secure a place on the bench for the final.Oxlade-Chamberlain Liverpool UCL finalMADRID, SPAIN - JUNE 01: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster of Liverpool celebrate with the trophy following the UEFA Champions League Final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on June 01, 2019 in Madrid, Spain. What did Oxlade-Chamberlain say after winning 2019 CL final?

And after picking up his winners’ medal following a 2-0 victory at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid, the midfielder showed that Arsenal will always be in his heart during a post-match interview with his former teammate Per Mertesacker.

Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “As former Gooners, we know what that meant to the Arsenal fans out there. [The win] was massive for us at Liverpool but ‘Once a Gooner always a Gooner’ that’s what they say.

“I had a personal sort of feeling in that game that we needed to get it done for all the people I left at Arsenal. I know they were all willing us on to win that one, so I’m happy we could do it.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain: What's he doing now?

Fast-forward three years and it’s unlikely that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be part of the Liverpool squad for the upcoming Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28.

The 28-year-old hasn’t been picked by Jurgen Klopp since an FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest in March, despite being fit and available, and hasn’t heard from the club about a new contract.

The Daily Mail say that there is likely to be interest from teams in the Premier League and overseas if Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has one more year on his Liverpool contract, is allowed to leave Anfield this summer.

Could a shock return to the Emirates Stadium be on the cards?

Stranger things have happened.
