Kevin De Bruyne is silly good at football. Like, seriously. There are few players in the Premier League who can bring you to your feet by producing an insanely difficult skill while making it look like nothing, but De Bruyne is most certainly one of them.In the context of winning back-to-back PFA Players' Player of the Year awards, the Manchester City star hasn't necessarily been at his world-beating best during the 2021/22 season.

The magic of De Bruyne

But it's a testament to just how magical he can be even when he's not on top form that he still seldom goes a single Premier League game without producing a moment of inspiration.

You only have to look at the viral pass that he played during the 5-0 demolition of Newcastle United to see that the Belgian maestro always has a spark of genius in his back pocket.

In fact, De Bruyne's latest reminder that he's arguably the world's best passer brought out the footballing hipster inside of us and frankly, left us hungry for more.

And trust us when we say that the YouTube rabbit hole you can go down when it comes to De Bruyne's greatest ever passes and assists is a wonderful one if you're a footballing purist.

If you're a cappuccino-loving football hipster chilling out in your 1990s retro jersey, then few things get better than watching the City star pick out passes that you didn't even think were possible.

De Bruyne's greatest ever assist

And we've watched more than enough flashes of De Bruyne genius to have a pretty good idea about the greatest assist that he's ever delivered during his time in the Premier League.

We are, of course, talking about the outrageous pass that he played to Leroy Sane during the 7-2 obliteration of Stoke City that set the wheels in motion for their historic 'centurion' season.

Of all the footballing masterpieces that the Citizens produced in that 100-point year, few can compare to the inch-perfect ball that De Bruyne used to negate the entire Potters defence.

And it's made all the more beautiful for a television viewer due to the fact that Sane wasn't even in shot when De Bruyne played his legendary assist, so be sure to relieve the most stunning of stunning passes below:

Somebody hang that in a museum. Gorgeous.

There's something about the way in which De Bruyne both weights and shapes the pass to absolute perfection that makes you wonder how anyone could possibly better it if they had all day to try.

De Bruyne has a different favourite

However, what makes the situation all the more head-turning is that De Bruyne doesn't actually consider it to be his greatest ever Premier League assist. At least, not when he asked in 2020.

According to the Manchester Evening News, De Bruyne mused: “I think I have to choose between the one I did against Stoke for Leroy [Sane] or the one this year against Aston Villa for Gabriel [Jesus].

"I think they are almost similar, maybe the one for Gabriel because I had to do it at full speed. It’s a similar pass because you have to bend it around players but at Villa, I was more in a stride and that makes it really difficult.”

Fair play, Kevin, you were the man who actually produced the two assists, but we're going to respectfully disagree because we'd die on the hill that his Stoke pass was the true masterpiece.

That being said, the fact there's even a debate just goes to show how easy De Bruyne makes it look to deliver passes that players couldn't match if they spent decades trying to match him.
