Mike Tyson won't face criminal charges for punching a fellow passenger on a plane according to reports.

Earlier this year US reports said the youngest heavyweight champion in history was arrested last month following an altercation with Melvin George Townsend III on April 30.

Tyson, 55, was caught on camera throwing a series of punches at his face, which left his forehead covered in blood.

The incident took place on board a JetBlue flight scheduled to take off from San Francisco International Airport to Florida two weeks ago.

However TMZ has reported that San Mateo County D.A. Stephen Wagstaff has confirmed no charges will be filed against 'The Baddest Man on the Planet' because of "the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson."

Following the announcement, Tyson's legal team released a statement thanking Wagstaffe personally for his 'careful, diligent, and professional work', as well as the police, county sheriff and other local authorities.

The statement read: "We thank San Mateo District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County Sheriff, and all law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation for their careful, diligent, and professional work."

It will no doubt come as a huge relief to Tyson, who recently released a new range of cannabis edibles in the exact shape of Evander Holyfield's ear with a chunk missing.

The 55-year-old boxing legend has also held talks with Jake Paul about another comeback fight that could earn him £40 million.

He said on his podcast: “I was going to stop but they started offering us some real dough so I’ll just wait until everything is substantial.

“Jake Paul believe it or not is more profitable than the champs.

“Listen, this guy probably brings like eighty million people to the table.

“Him alone, he could do eighty or ninety million.

“Hell yeah – only to break the record though, I’m not going to do it if I’m not going to break the record.

“Let’s do it Jakey!

“Wouldn’t that be cool and stuff?

“I love him so much – he’s so smart, right?

“But listen, you know what I worry about? I worry about him getting in trouble before the fight happens.

“I’d tell him ‘Hey man, you’re going to go to jail for real, chill out’.

“You can be wild without going to jail.

“This dude is crazy, he would be throwing stuff at people, bottles, and stuff.”
