Charles Oliveira beats Justin Gaethje: Brazilian commentary is absolutely wild

Oliveira vs Gaethje with Brazilian commentary

Charles Oliveira choked Justin Gaethje to submission at Saturday’s UFC 274 event, but left the arena without his lightweight championship belt after missing weight.

After becoming the first UFC champion to vacate his title due to missing weight, ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira walked out the winner after an incredible first-round submission.

The spectacular victory overshadowed the weigh-in sadness as the Brazilian pulled off a perfect rear-naked choke, sending his compatriot TV commentator into a passionate frenzy.

Brazilians are well-known for their passion, most notably in football and martial arts, with Jiu-Jitsu being one of the most dominant aspects of MMA.

Oliveira missed the 155-pound weight limit by a mere four-tenths of a pound on Friday, despite the hotel room weights reportedly weighing him within the limit repeatedly.

It meant little for Gaethje, though, as a win for him would have made him champion regardless, and it seemed he could do it after bloodying Oliveira’s face in the first two minutes.

While being well aware of Oliveira’s capabilities on the ground as he tried to avoid taking the fight to the canvas, Gaethje was powerless to Oliveira taking him down.

Oliveira’s 11th win in a row and another submission win 3:22 into the first round added to his record of most submission wins in UFC history, taking it to 16.

Oliveira proved once again that he is the dominant force in the lightweight division and is starting to become short of challengers, but he had one in mind after the fight.

“Hey, Conor McGregor — you coming up, or you’re going to run away? This is a message for the entire division. I’m a problem for the entire division. That is my title,” Oliveira said.

After the win, he was announced as the No. 1 contender by Dana White and will fight an opponent to be named later to fill the title vacancy.
