Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will need to attract players who can make the Gers a force in the Champions League and clinch Scottish Premiership titles if the Europa League trophy heads back to Ibrox, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Van Bronckhorst was appointed as the Glasgow giants' manager last November, following Steven Gerrard's departure, and he is on the cusp of ending the season in stunning fashion.

What's the latest news involving Rangers?

Rangers are preparing for the Europa League final, which will see them go head-to-head with German side Eintracht Frankfurt at Sevilla's Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium next Wednesday.

The Gers booked their place in the showpiece by overcoming RB Leipzig at a raucous Ibrox earlier this month, with John Lundstram striking what proved to be the all-important winner on aggregate.

Van Bronckhorst's charges have also seen off Borussia Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade and Braga since successfully negotiating the group stage of the competition.

Victory over Frankfurt would see Rangers book their place in next season's Champions League and pick up their first continental trophy since winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972.

While the Gers are set to compete in the Europa League final, they have suffered the disappointment of seeing arch-rivals Celtic clinch the Scottish Premiership title this week.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones believes Rangers will go about their summer business quietly, regardless of whether they are crowned the Europa League winners or not.

However, the transfer insider has urged van Bronckhorst to bolster his squad if he succeeds in bringing Champions League football to Ibrox.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I think they'll keep a lid on things and won't let this get out of hand.

"First of all, they've got to actually go and win the Europa League and that's why they haven't really considered who would be on their shortlist at this point.

"It's a massive game and they know that winning it is going to be extremely difficult. But, if they do win it, then they need players that can not only help them compete in the Champions League but actually win the Scottish Premiership."

Who have Rangers been linked with?

Van Bronckhorst has hinted that he could look to extend Amad Diallo's stay at Ibrox beyond the end of the season.

The 19-year-old joined on loan from Manchester United during the final stages of the January transfer window.

Rangers are also understood to be in the race to sign Sunderland frontman Ross Stewart, while Ibrox has been mooted as a potential loan destination for Chelsea's Billy Gilmour, who is currently with Norwich City until the campaign's climax.
