Inter Milan won the 2022 Coppa Italia crown on Wednesday night in eventful circumstances. The reigning Serie A champions locked horns with Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, ultimately emerging 4-2 victors despite the two sides proving inseparable after 90 minutes.Inter had initially taken the lead after just six minutes courtesy of a stunning strike from Nicolo Barella, but two goals in quick succession for Juventus flipped the game on its head in the second-half.

Inter Milan win Coppa Italia

Strikes from Alex Sandro and Dusan Vlahovic meant that Inter were staring at the very real possibility of seeing their decade-long wait for Coppa Italia glory dragging on even longer.

However, once Simone Inzaghi's men were able to force extra time from the penalty spot - hold that thought - they were ultimately able to get the better of Juventus across the additional half-hour.

Two goals from Ivan Perisic - one, a spot-kick and the other, a fizzing left-footed strike - around the 100-minute mark ensured that Inter took home the silverware and the Old Lady were left empty-handed.

Calhanoglu's perfect penalty

And a lot of the credit for turning things around must lie at the feet of Hakan Calhanoglu, whose 80th-minute penalty pulled Inter out of the fire when they were edging ever closer to defeat.

That's not all, though, because Calhanoglu didn't simply 'just' score his vital penalty in the Coppa Italia final, but he happened to produce one of the best spot-kicks that we've seen in recent years.

You'd forgive the Turkish midfielder for playing it safe and just smashing his shot down the middle, but no, he swung for the fences with a missile that could hardly have gone further into the top corner.

With many fans even quipping that they thought Calhanoglu's shot was headed for Row Z, the gutsy combination of power and accuracy is so perfect for having so casually flirted with disaster.

But you know what they say: 'Go big or go home', and you certainly can't accuse Inter's midfield general for holding back, so be sure to check out this stunning penalty in all its glory down below:

It doesn't get much better than that.

One of the best penalties in recent years

In fact, Calhanoglu's outrageous strike nestled so far in the corner that it reminds us of Djibril Cisse's perfect penalty that was so far in the top corner that it literally got tangled up in the net.

Sure, Calhanoglu's effort might not have had the same end result as that, but you only have to look at the slow-motion replays of it kissing the post on its journey to the net to see just how mesmerising it was.

And to have the nerve to even attempt that when your team is trailing in a cup final is something that we can't even comprehend, so kudos to you, Hakan; you've got more guts than we have.
