Last night's AEW Dynamite saw a stacked card, featuring three huge Owen Hart Foundation Tournament matches, two from the men's division and one from the women's. Also CM Punk was in action against Dark Order's John Silver, and so much more.
Plus, MJF returned to Long Island to carry out a contract signing for his match with Wardlow at Double Or Nothing.
Adam Cole def Dax Harwood- Owen Hart Tournament Quarter-Finals.
Dynamite kicked off with a bang as Adam Cole and Dax Harwood looked to book their ticket to the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
Adam Cole's confidence cost him as the match began as he was met with a huge chop after taunting Dax. Dax would follow up with an array of shots but Cole would soon regain momentum after launching Dax chest first into the turnbuckle with a huge irish whip.
As the match progressed, Dax would almost put Cole away via a slingshot powerbomb.
However, it was Cole that would end up securing the victory after making Dax tap after he couldn't escape the sharpshooter.
CM Punk def John Silver-
AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page joined commentary to watch his Double Or Nothing opponent CM Punk as he went up against Long Island hometown boy John Silver.
CM Punk didn't get the warmest of receptions from the Long Island crowd and even proceeded to cut off his music so he could take in the atmosphere.
Silver in this match got some great offence on Punk scouting counters that Punk through at him and most notably dropping him with a huge tornado DDT off the top rope.
However, Punk would soon regain control and would proceed to mock the AEW World Champion as he put Silver away with Page's signature Buckshot Lariat to pick up the victory.
Punk and Hangman confronted each other after the match and exchanged a few words.
Tony Nese def Danhausen-
Danhausen made his long-awaited in-ring AEW debut but he had to get past an ever-impressive Tony Nese.
To the shock of the crowd, Nese would crack Danhausen with a corner running knee strike and pick up the victory almost instantly.
Mark Sterling and Nese looked to finish Danhausen after the match. This was until HOOK appeared and marched his way down to the ring. Danhausen stuck his hand out to HOOK once again and this time HOOK accepted and HOOKhausen is now a reality.
MJF and Wardlow contract signing-
MJF took to the drinking in the electric atmosphere of the Long Island fans. MJF would poke fun at Wardlow and come up with a few conditions for Wardlow before he can face MJF.
These being taking 10 lashes from MJF's belt and also having to face Shawn Spears in a steel cage with MJF as special guest referee.
Towards the end, Wardlow is uncuffed so he can sign the contract and this allows him to take out security and almost get his hands on MJF. This was until Mark Sterling got involved.
Ricky Starks def Jungle Boy- FTW Championship
With Starks and Hobbs having the AEW Tag Team Championships in their sights, Jungle Boy got his end of the bargain and that was a shot at the FTW Championship.
Starks and Jungle Boy would showcase great offence throughout the majority of the match with both men picking up near falls throughout the bout.
However, an accidental distraction on the outside from Swerve Strickland allowed rival Starks to take advantage and pick up the victory, retaining his championship.
Post match saw Keith Lee and Swerve face off with both the AEW Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express and Team Taz as the tag team championship picture begins to heat up.
Jericho Appreciation Society victory speech-
The JAS made their way to the ring basking in their victory from last week. Jericho alongside the rest of the JAS would make it clear that professional wrestlers are never going to be as good as sports entertainers.
This triggered the arrival of the Blackpool Combat Club and the return of Eddie Kingston alongside Santana and Ortiz and the six men would assault the JAS. However, the JAS luckily escaped.
Toni Storm def Jamie Hayter- Owen Hart Foundation Quarter Finals.
Both women looked to make a statement and advance to the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
Storm and Hayter began the bout with a good test of strength with Hayter getting the upper hand.
Hayter would dominate the majority of the bout, targetting the back of Storm with a combo of suplexes and backbreakers.
Storm would regain control after planting Hayter with an impressive German suplex.
Storm would try to pick up the victory via innovative roll-up but Hayter would escape. However, quick thinking from Storm allowed her to capitalise and hit a Storm Zero out of nowhere to pick up the victory.
Jeff Hardy def Darby Allin- Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Quarter-Finals
It was revealed earlier in the night that this bout was now an anything goes match much to the delight of the crowd as well as Hardy and Allin who looked to meet the expectations of this highly anticipated dream match.
Allin wasted no time, dropping Hardy with a high-velocity tope suicida.
Hardy would quickly reply with a clothesline off the steel steps which turned Allin inside out.
It wouldn't be long before Aliin and Hardy took it to the extreme with Allin hitting a Swanton on Jeff Hardy to the outside off of a ladder which saw the two crash through a bridge of steel chairs.
Allin tried to follow up with a Coffin drop on the apron but Hardy would evade at the last second. Hardy would then look to capitalise with a Swanton Bomb on the steel steps but Allin would scout and avoid this which saw Hardy bounce off the steel steps.
The closing moments looked as if Allin had put Hardy away after hitting a Coffin Drop. However, the ring IQ of Hardy saw him roll up Allin and pick up a huge victory which sees him face Adam Cole in the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Cup.
