Roman Reigns' status for WWE Hell in a Cell potentially revealed

  • Ash Rose

Roman Reigns will miss WWE’s next Premium Live Show, Hell in a Cell, according to a new report updating his current status with WWE.

This past weekend Roman Reigns comments following a live show in New Jersey raised concerns after The Tribal Chief confessed, he didn’t know when he’d be back in the city again.

This sparked rumours that Reigns was set to take time off from WWE, possibly to pursue a transition into Hollywood after staring he was starting to move into a new phase in his career.

Since that admission, there have been contrasting reports on Reigns upcoming schedule. With Dave Meltzer suggesting that Reigns will miss all WWE Live shows and TV tapings from June until September but will be present for WWE’s two big stadium shows in July, Money In The Bank and SummerSlam.

However, last night Andrew Zarain reported that Roman it’s not expected to take an extended period of time off and that the only change will be an absence from smaller market house shows – like those in Trenton, where his promo took place.

Now, in an update on the situation, Dave Meltzer has said on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, that Roman Reigns will not be part of WWE’s next Premium Live Show Hell in a Cell next month.

Basically, Roman Reigns is not gonna be on every pay-per-view. He’s off the Chicago show, which is the next pay-per-view on June 5 (Hell in a Cell). He will be doing pay-per-views this summer. Even though he was removed from all the advertising from June 24 – yeah June 24 in Austin, he’s been removed from all advertising, from house shows, TVs, except for the two stadium shows – but he will do TVs to build up those (stadium) shows. So it’s not like he’s not gonna be on TV, but he’s not gonna be doing a lot of dates and from what I understand, the shows he’s gonna be on, sooner or later, they’ll start advertising him. So the dates will be known, it’s not like they’re gonna put him on TV without advertising him. But that’s the basic situation. I think he’s gonna be on more shows than Lesnar, but not appreciably more.

With Roman out of the equation for Hell in a Cell, it means there will be no men’s world title match for the second event in a row. Instead WWE is expected to focus on the rivalries of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins and Edge and AJ Styles, both of which could well settled in Hell in a Cell matches.
