UFC 5 is the next anticipated game in the EA Sports franchise, and a new leak appears to indicate when we may see the release of the MMA title.
The release schedule for the EA Sports titles has been fairly regimented for the first four games in the series.
This new leak however appears to indicate that fans of the MMA franchise will have to wait a lot longer than usual!
Here is everything you need to know about the recent leaks indicating the potential release date for UFC 5.
UFC 5 Leak
According to reliable insider Tom Henderson, the game is expected to be released at some point in Summer 2022.
He tweeted: “UFC 5 is summer 23 I believe. A Fight Night reboot had to be *paused* for it.”
This actually goes against the release schedule that EA Sports has been running with since the original UFC game came out for PS4 and Xbox One back in 2014.
Here are the release dates for the previous titles in the franchise, and as you can see, there appears to be a near two-year pattern for releases:
- EA Sports UFC: Released 17 June 2014
- EA Sports UFC 2: Released 15 March 2016
- EA Sports UFC 3: Released 2 February 2018
- EA Sports UFC 4: Released 14 August 2020
With this in mind, seeing UFC 5 come out in July/August 2023 would be a shock, as it would completely change the usual release pattern for the successful MMA series.
Whether the pandemic has caused issues with the release schedule is not currently known, but again, that wouldn’t be a shock.
Players have been reacting to the tweet and leak from Henderson, with many hoping that this extra year of development could signal a ‘better’ game from EA Sports.
One gamer tweeted: “This is odd, considering they’ve been on an every-other-year schedule since they picked up the licence. To your knowledge, should we expect any actual improvements/new features? Or just more of the same? The added year is giving me what is likely false hope.”
Redditors on the r/GamingLeaksandRumours Subreddit have also been discussing the apparent change in the release schedule.
The majority of gamers appeared to be quite pessimistic when it came to the upcoming title, with many having not enjoyed UFC 4.
One wrote: “Hopefully UFC 5 is an actual sequel and not just glorified DLC for the previous game. bring back PRIDE cowards.”
Another gamer was blunter in their assessment: “UFC 4 was such a gigantic step back so yeah 5 can eat sh*t.”
