In a recent interview with Innes McVey of Inside The Ropes, AEW star Brody King spoke about who he would like to go toe-to-toe with at the highly anticipated Forbidden Door Pay-per-view.
AEW and NJPW’s crossover event, Forbidden Door has been the talk of the wrestling world since its announcement on the 20th of April.
What we know so far is the event will see the best from AEW collide with the best of New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). The amount of dream match scenarios is endless, champions colliding, legends colliding, rising stars colliding. It is an event that will revolutionise the world of professional wrestling.
Brody King is best known at the moment for being a part of one of the hottest stables in wrestling, The House Of Black, alongside Buddy Matthews and Malakai Black.
While speaking to Innes McVey, King spoke about how he would love for The House Of Black to appear on New Japan Pro Wrestling programming. King stated that two dream scenarios would be for the House Of Black to collide with Los Ingobernables or Suzuki-Gun. He described these potential scenarios as “awesome”.
King also went on to discuss who he sees as a dream opponent for the event if the opportunity came for a singles match rather than a trios bout.
King stated that the opponent he would like to take on the most would be none other than former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Shingo Takagi.
The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion has built up a strong resume for himself during his time in NJPW. Picking up the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, the NEVER Openweight Championship, the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships, and the NJPW King Of Pro Wrestling Championship.
King could get two routes to this dream bout with Takagi as Takagi is a member of NJPW’s Los Ingonerables stable therefore we could see them collide in a trios match.
Forbidden Door will take place June 26th at the United Center in Chicago.
