Arsenal are ‘more likely’ to sign Richarlison than Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Mikel Arteta is known to be in the market for a new striker after allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona for free in January following a disciplinary breach.

According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport (via the Manchester Evening News), Osimhen has chosen Arsenal over Manchester United as his next side as he believes they will be able to offer him Champions League football.

However, Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim the Red Devils have now ‘initiated contact’ with Napoli to find out the price of their star forward.

The report states that the Serie A giants have quoted a negotiable fee of €110 million (£94m) for the Nigeria international, potentially putting him out of Arsenal’s price range.

Another potential option is Richarlison, who is believed to be available for transfer following Everton’s financial difficulties.

Football Insider claim the Toffees would be willing to sanction the 25-year-old’s sale if they receive an offer north of £50m, while Jones has previously told GiveMeSport that the deal ‘could actually happen’.

What has Jones said about Arsenal?

Super-agent Kia Joorabchian is known to have a close working relationship with Arsenal’s technical director Edu and is also believed to be close to Everton owner Farhad Moshiri.

And Jones believes the involvement of the Iranian businessman, who was spotted in a director’s box at Goodison Park as the search for Rafa Benitez’s successor got underway, means Richarlison could arrive at the Emirates Stadium over Osimhen.

When asked if Arsenal could sign Osimhen, Jones told GMS: “He's going to be very expensive. Napoli aren't going to let this guy go on the cheap, they paid a lot of money for him themselves, and he's going to go for even more money than that.

“Personally, I still think that a deal like Richarlison is more likely than that one, especially as it’s starting to look like Kia Joorabchian might be involved again.”

Richarlison has established himself in the Premier League during his time with Everton, registering 51 goals and 13 assists in 150 appearances for the Goodison Park outfit.

And his underlying numbers are equally as impressive. As per FBref, the Brazil international has ranked in the 99^th percentile for blocks, 94^th for clearances and tackles and 92^nd for pressures amongst players in his position over the last year.

Those figures indicate that Richarlison would be a hard-working addition to Arteta’s revolution in north London while also being able to contribute in an attacking sense.
