Rangers winning the Europa League would be a "massive" boost to the Ibrox club's finances, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side go in search of their first European trophy for almost 50 years when they face Eintracht Frankfurt next Wednesday and will also benefit significantly off the pitch if they get the better of the Bundesliga outfit.

What's the latest news involving Rangers?

Whatever happens in Seville, it's been an unforgettable European campaign for the Glasgow giants, who've knocked out the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Leipzig on their way to reaching the final.

But if Rangers can go one better and defeat a third German outfit, they'll not only claim a first continental trophy since winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972, but they'll be playing in the group stages of the Champions League for the first time since they went into administration.

Furthermore, winning the competition would be a major boost to Rangers' finances heading into next season.

What did O'Rourke say about Rangers?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It would be a huge boost for Rangers if they go on to win the Europa League after a fantastic European campaign.

"It's guaranteed qualification to the Champions League group stages, which will be massive for the club financially and would show the ambition of the club as well."

How much will Rangers receive if they win the Europa League?

If Rangers come up with the goods next week, lifting the Europa League crown will earn them in excess of £80m across the next two seasons, according to The Athletic.

The report says that Rangers have already received around £18m for their efforts during their run but they could bank up to four times more if they beat Frankfurt.

That's because the revenue from not only playing in at least six Champions League games, but the European Super Cup against either Liverpool or Real Madrid, which takes places on August 10 in Helsinki, will add to their pool.

As a result of all of that, it's certainly up there with one of the biggest and most important games in the Gers' 150 year history.
