Tottenham target Arnaut Danjuma is on another level to Steven Bergwijn, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Villarreal winger has enjoyed an exceptional season in La Liga since he made the £21.3m move from Bournemouth following their relegation last summer.

What's the latest news involving Danjuma?

According to 90min, as well as Pau Torres, who's been a long-term target for Fabio Paratici, Spurs are interested in signing the £45m-rated attacker.

Danjuma will be known to those on English shores after his exceptional season with the Cherries in 2020-2021, but his stock has grown even further following his exploits with the Yellow Submarines.

Across all competitions, Danjuma has scored 16 goals and laid on four assists, with more than 30 per cent of his goal contributions coming in the Champions League as Villarreal reached the semi-finals.

As a result of his form, 90min believe that Tottenham sent officials to Anfield to watch Danjuma and Torres in their semi-final first leg defeat to Liverpool last month.

Unfortunately, it proved an uneventful evening for the Dutchman after his side were beaten 2-0 and then eventually knocked out of the competition in the next leg, but Bridge failed to rule out the possibility of Antonio Conte's side targeting him should he become available.

What did Bridge say about Danjuma?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I do think he would be [an upgrade on Bergwijn]. He's a real talent and another level to Bergwijn.

"But I don't think there's anything concrete on Tottenham, I've not heard anything, but would they be in the mix if he became available? Maybe."

How do Bergwijn and Danjuma compare this season?

The Dutch pair, who might be in direct competition for a place at the World Cup later this year, could hardly have had more contrasting seasons.

Danjuma has enjoyed a dream first campaign, directly contributing to 20 goals, while also proving himself on the Champions League stage with goals against Juventus and Bayern Munich and a brace Atalanta in the group stages.

Meanwhile, Bergwijn's only bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign was his dramatic late brace in the victory over Leicester back in January. In his 31 other appearances, he's chipped in with just two goals and two assists, which is why Spurs are open to selling him this summer.
