The 21-year-old then went over to say thank you to 'The Yellow Wall' and the reception he got was deafening.

Dortmund fans are unrivalled. The atmosphere inside Signal Iduna Park as Haaland said his goodbyes was quite extraordinary.

Haaland's final game went to plan as Dortmund managed to defeat Hertha Berlin.

The away side took the lead when Ishak Belfodil scored from the penalty spot in the 18th minute.

But Dortmund fought back in the second half, with Haaland scoring a penalty himself to restore parity.

Dortmund's 17-year-old wonderkid, Youssoufa Moukoko, emerged from the bench to score the winner with six minutes remaining.

Dortmund's win means they finished the campaign second in Bundesliga, eight points behind bitter rivals Bayern Munich.

Without Haaland up top, it will be tough to overcome Bayern in the 2022/23 season.

Der BVB will be hoping that Haaland's replacement, Karim Adeyemi, will be able to score the goals needed to challenge the Bavarian giants.
