YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul has claimed that Canelo Alvarez has a stain on his legacy after falling to defeat against Dmitry Bivol.

Throughout the course of his career, Canelo Alvarez has been viewed as one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in boxing. Whether it be due to his ‘dare to be great’ mentality or some of the wins he’s accumulated, very few can claim to have achieved as much as the 31-year-old has in his time in the sport.

Unfortunately, his push for glory at light heavyweight proved to be a step too far earlier this month as he fell to a disappointing loss at the hands of Dmitry Bivol in Las Vegas.

The judges managed to score five rounds in his favour but anyone who watched the bout knows just how dominant Bivol was. Canelo had his moments, as he tends to do, but the WBA title stayed with the incumbent champion.

A lot of fans and fellow fighters were quick to comment on what went down at T-Mobile Arena given the scale of Canelo’s star power.

That includes, for better or worse, Logan Paul, who caught up with TMZ Sports to voice his thoughts on the result.

“That whole situation is sad. No, he’s not washed, he’s Canelo, he’s not washed, he’s one of the best boxers ever. But it does just suck. What a stain on a legacy. It’s just a stain, but it’s there.”

Paul went on to discuss the fact that he still hasn’t been paid the full amount he was owed by Floyd Mayweather in the wake of their exhibition match.

Will we see the rematch?

Canelo Alvarez is a competitor at his very core and he’ll be desperate to get back in there and avenge just the second defeat of his pro career. In equal measure, though, there are also a few other options out there that could be more lucrative.

The plan prior to this setback was for him to battle Gennady Golovkin in a trilogy fight this September. There’s still a chance that happens, but the Mexican sensation has made it crystal clear that he intends to get back in there with Bivol as soon as possible.
