Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz wants to get his old belt back.

The Polish MMA fighter captured the vacant 205lbs title with a brutal knockout of American Dominick Reyes at UFC 253 on Fight Island in September 2020.

But he lost the belt in dramatic fashion at the hands of 42-year-old Glover Teixeira at UFC 267 last October, losing by rear-naked choke in the second round.

Blachowicz, 39, got himself back into the win column with a third-round TKO victory over Aleksandr Rakic, 30, who suffered a nasty knee injury after attempting to check a leg kick.

And the Warsaw-based Pole wants nothing more than a second crack at current UFC champ Teixeira for a chance at revenge.

“This is what I was looking for, this answer - this fight give me the answer that I want,” he said at the post-fight press conference.

“That I feel the same before I fought Glover or before I fought Israel [Adesanya] or Dominick Reyes. I’m just happy.

"Because I got inside the octagon to do a great fight but also to have fun and joy and I have it.

“I hope so that the UFC gives me another title shot. That I’m the next one. I was No. 1, Rakic was No. 3 - for me, it’s obvious that I’m the No. 1 contender now for the title shot.”

Teixeira, 42, will make his first title defence in Singapore against No.2-ranked light heavyweight Jiri Prochazka.

The pair will do battle for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 275 at Singapore Indoor Stadium on June 11 on what looks set to be a star-studded fight card.

And Blachowicz, who is currently enjoying a vacation with his family, hopes to be there as well.

Blachowicz added: "I've never been to Singapore so why not?

"I like travelling, I like being in new places, so if they invite me I will go there.

"But first of all I need to fix the eye. I don't know what they're going to do, and we're going to stay here for a couple of days with my son and fiancée for a vacation to enjoy the USA.

"But if they invite us, all my family, then I will go there."

Blachowicz also revealed he is a big fan of Conan the Barbarian after picking the theme tune as his walkout music.

He continued: "My fiancée gave me the sword of Conan. I am a fan of Conan. That's why I chose the song.

"It just gives me the power, you know?

"Before the fight I watched Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, Red Sonja - not that that's Conan the Barbarian but everyone knows Conan is in it too.

"It's just a bit of fun."
