When it comes to the business of making money, there aren’t many athletes more adept than Floyd Mayweather.
The American boxing superstar has turned selling a fight into an art form, never failing to induce the multitudes into buying his pay-per-views.
His crossover fight with UFC legend Conor McGregor will always be on of the biggest combat sporting events of all time with both combatants raking in eye-watering sums of money from the bout.
Now, Floyd has taken to exhibition fights as a means of keeping the cash machines whirring with bouts against the likes of Logan Paul and kick-boxer Tenshin Nasukawa.
However, stepping between the ropes isn’t Floyd’s only source of income, but some of his other methods are far more risky.
It is widely known that Floyd is a prolific gambler, but just how much money has he made from betting on sporting events? Well, thanks to a report in the Mail, we can get a picture for just how exorbitant Floyd’s winnings have been.
Floyd Mayweather’s biggest sport-betting wins
College Basketball – $75,000
Floyd won $75,000 betting on March Madness in 2014 as he prepared for his fight with Marcos Maidana.
All in all, that’s pocket change for somebody like Floyd.
NFL – $4.7 million in a month
In the space of one month, Mayweather pulled in a staggering amount betting on the NFL in September and October of 2014.
Now it’s worth pointing out that he wagering immense amounts – no less than $800,000 at any point – but the pay out was certainly worth it.
NBA and boxing four-day winning streak: $827,000
Floyd enjoyed a very profitable quartet of days in March 2015 betting on a number of NBA games and Gennady Golovkin’s fight with Willy Monroe Jr.
Writing on Instagram at the time, Floyd said:
“The last 4 days have been great. I’m getting paid while watching others entertain and perform. I don’t (do) anything for free. I bet $350,000 and walked away with $827,272.73.”
