A photo has emerged that shows just how big Philadelphia Eagles first round draft pick Jordan Davis looks.

Coming into the 2022 NFL Draft, one of the big needs for the Philadelphia Eagles was at defensive tackle, where they needed to replace the departing Hassan Ridgeway whilst also possibly replacing Fletcher Cox at some point in the future with the veteran set to turn 32 in December this year.

And coming out of the University of Georgia, as a member of what arguably was the greatest defence that college football ever produced, Davis looked as if he could fulfill that role, after he racked up 32 tackles last season for the Bulldogs as they went on to win the National Championship.

This must have impressed the Eagles as they decided to take him with the 13th pick in this year's draft.

But despite still being something of a kid in the league at age 22, he is built like anything but a kid as he is listed as standing 6’6 and weighing 340lbs, which sounds like a lot and it certainly is, but it really is something that needs to be seen to be put into full context.

The Great Wall of Philly

Davis stature is best examined when put up next to the man that is likely going to be his partner on the defensive line this year, that being the aforementioned Cox.

The two were recently pictured together, and Davis made Cox, who is listed at 6’4 and 310lbs, look somewhat normal when put next to him:

Now if you’re an opposing offensive lineman, or a running back that has to get through the gaps, you might be somewhat intimidated by what you see in front of you, as there might not be any holes left for them to run through with these two on the other side of the ball.

Hoping not to lose a step

The Eagles were one of the best teams last year when it came to stopping the run, giving up 1775 yards, 9th fewest in the league, but with Ridgeway departing who put up 20 total tackles and 5 quarterback hits, they definitely couldn’t afford to lose production on that end.

And whilst Davis might take some time to get fully up to speed in the league, his sheer size and presence alone will cause a number of offensive linemen trouble as they work out what to do with him.

So expect the Eagles’ defensive line to be up there as one of the best this upcoming season.
