UFC legend Conor McGregor posted several posts on his Twitter back in 2020 about who would make it onto his prestigious Mount Rushmore of the UFC.

His successful career in the Octagon has entitled the Irishman to rank his top four fighters and he also outlined his reasons for doing so.

At the top of the summit, he named Anderson Silva.

The Brazilian-American mixed martial artist and boxer holds the record for the longest title reign in UFC history at 2,457 days. From defending his middleweight belt from 2006 to 2013, Silva also went on a remarkable 16-fight win streak. His ability to knock out his opponents with devastating leg kicks was most noticeable in his career.

Silva is McGregor's GOAT, but this is what he said about the Brazilian: "The array of finishes, across 2 divisions, with champion status in 1, Anderson Silva is No.1 MMA GOAT."

Having achieved a successful career in the UFC, McGregor included himself in second place on his list.

McGregor said: "My array of finishes, across 3 divisions, with champion status in 2, I'm No.2. If not tied 1."

At number three is Georges St-Pierre. You can argue that third place is harsh for someone like GSP, who has had a stellar career in the UFC. St-Pierre was a two-division champion, having won titles in the welterweight and middleweight divisions in which he also held the record for the longest welterweight winning streak.

This is what McGregor had to say about St-Pierre: "GSP is in at 3. Much less array of finishes but champion status in 2. He is far behind though. Reasons = Left 170 after much damage taken+questionable decision. Never re-engaged 170lb successors. Bottled Anderson fight. Only moved when one eyed fighter presented. Played safe."

At the bottom of McGregor's Mount Rushmore is Jon Jones. The American MMA star has dominated the light heavyweight division for a decade, making a name for himself. However, this is controversial as McGregor has highlighted that it's the only division he has competed in. Unlike others, Jones hasn't challenged other weight divisions, which makes some fighters on this list so great.

Here is McGregor's reasoning: "Jon is 4. Maybe tied 3. More array of finishes than 3 and still active, but champion status in just 1. Reasons = Multiple lacklustre decision performances + questionable decision win. Attempting to safe play HW entry/avoiding its champion."
