The Whites have been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old after it was revealed Barcelona would not be making his return to the Camp Nou permanent.
What is the latest news involving Traore?
Traore re-joined his boyhood club on a short-term loan deal in January that included the option to buy for £29 million.
However, Spanish sources have revealed that Barca chiefs have already decided against activating the clause for the pacey attacker, instead deciding to focus their attention and resources on tying Ousmane Dembele down to fresh terms.
And that has opened the door for Traore to potentially remain in the Premier League, with TEAMtalk crediting both Leeds and Tottenham Hotspur with an interest in his services.
The Spain international has just over a year remaining on his contract with parent club Wolves and is not expected to put pen to paper on fresh terms.
As a result, Traore is widely expected to move onto pastures new following the conclusion of the current campaign and could be reunited with director of football Victor Orta, who signed him for Middlesbrough.
What has O’Rourke said about Traore?
O’Rourke believes Leeds’ pursuit could hinge on whether they are able to stay out of the relegation zone, though, with Traore likely to be unwilling to drop back into the Championship.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think a lot depends on Leeds securing their survival in the Premier League. If they go down, there’s not much chance of them signing Adama Traore.
“But if they do stay up and Traore is available on the market, that is something I’m sure that Leeds will try and explore and look at.”
Do Leeds need Traore?
Star forward Raphinha has been heavily linked with a move from Elland Road following some outstanding displays, with Barcelona believed to be at the front of the queue for his signature.
Ironically, Traore could be the player chosen the replace the immensely talented Brazilian, and his underlying numbers indicate he may be a valuable addition to Jesse Marsch’s charges.
The stocky star has ranked in the 99th percentile for dribbles completed, 95th for progressive carries and 86th for touches in the attacking penalty area when compared to players in his position over the last year, as per FBref.
Traore has only racked up five goal contributions in his 39 appearances this season, though, highlighting the frustrations that his displays can often bring.
