Chelsea not being able to get to work on signing a replacement for Andreas Christensen is a "big problem", according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Dane is set to follow team-mate Antonio Rudiger out of the Stamford Bridge exit door this summer, and the west London club are unable to buy their successors right now after the sanctioning of owner Roman Abramovich.

What is the latest news involving Christensen?

Christensen's Chelsea career is all but over after his no-show in the Blues' FA Cup final defeat to Liverpool.

According to multiple outlets, including Sky Sports, the 26-year-old central defender made himself unavailable for the Wembley showpiece despite not being injured.

News of Christensen's decision to pull out of Thomas Tuchel's squad on the day has left some Chelsea supporters, who went on to watch their side lose a third successive FA Cup final, fuming.

Christensen may have now played his last game for the Blues, with the Denmark international expected to join Barcelona when his contract expires next month.

What has Brown said about Christensen and Chelsea?

With Christensen set to leave Stamford Bridge and Chelsea unable to do anything on the transfer front until their takeover is complete, Brown is worried about the Premier League outfit.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star reporter said: "The fact that they're still under sanctions and can't really do anything in the transfer market until that's all cleared up is a big problem because it does look like Christensen's going to Barcelona.

"To lose two of your starting centre-backs without knowing who you might bring in to replace them, or if you even can, is a bit of a worry."

Will Chelsea fans miss Christensen?

Christensen has come through the ranks at Chelsea and has played in some big games for the club, including their Champions League final triumph against Manchester City last year.

In total, he has featured 161 times in blue and has gone on to win Europe's elite competition and the Europa League to name a couple of his honours.

However, the £80,000-a-week star has missed a lot of games because of injury, sickness and now for whatever reason.

Simply put, Christensen has not been reliable enough for Chelsea down the years, so if they are able to get an adequate replacement, then it is hard to imagine the Stamford Bridge faithful missing him too much.
