Eden Hazard’s time at Real Madrid hasn’t exactly been a rip-roaring success.
Having set the world alight in Chelsea blue, the Belgian magician swapped London for Madrid in a move that, on paper, looked to have ticked all the boxes.
Hazard, at the peak of his powers, was joining one of the planet’s biggest clubs as their latest, celebrated Galactico.
Sadly for Hazard, things just haven’t quite panned out and, instead of his Bernabeu days being the zenith of his career, they have proven to be a rather mighty slog.
Hazard has struggled for any kind of consistent fitness and, in the short-lived periods where he has been fit, you can hardly say that he has also been firing.
Of course, he has shown glimpses of his genius, but he has looked at times like nothing more than a spectre of his former Chelsea self.
Fortunately, everyone connected with the club wants to see him do well – a luxury not afforded to many superstars by a notoriously demanding fan base.
His teammates hold him in high regard as well, demonstrated by all the love he was showered with following Madrid’s come-from-behind smash and grab against Manchester City.
However, with a Champions League final against an old enemy in Liverpool on the horizon, Hazard is beginning to show signs of exactly what he is capable of in the famous white shirt.

Liverpool fans know all too well just the sort of damage Hazard can do and so a clip of him attempting – and nailing – an audacious flick vs Cadiz this past weekend may make for ominous viewing.
For the neutral though, seeing Hazard pull something off that was once part and parcel of his game is just a true joy to watch.

Now, whether Hazard gets onto the pitch for the aforementioned Paris finale is a different question entirely but you can be sure Carlo Ancelotti won’t be upset about having the option.
Hazard loves a clash with the Reds and will be desperate to finally make a truly telling contribution at Madrid.
The football world has missed peak Hazard and you won’t catch us complaining for a second if he manages to find his way back to that level soon.
