Erik ten Hag has already started work as Manchester United manager after Ajax's season concluded at the weekend.

The Dutchman revealed he would miss Ajax's end of season trip to Curacao and begin preparations to take over from Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford immediately.

"There's a lot of work that still needs to be done," said Ten Hag after Ajax's final match on Sunday - a 2-2 draw with Vitesse.

"I think that's understandable. This applies to every new club.

"A number of things still need to be organised with the staff and also with the squad. We will be working intensively on that from [Monday]."

You couldn't have blamed Ten Hag if he enjoyed a few weeks holiday after leading Ajax to the Eredivisie but it's clear he's only too aware of the work that needs to be done at Old Trafford.

Man Utd have had another disappointing trophyless campaign and may yet finish seventh in the Premier League. Ten Hag has one hell of a job on his hands.

Next Man United manager Erik ten Hag acknowledging fans

One thing's for sure, he'll have the backing of the United supporters - at least initially.

The 52-year-old will be hoping he's given plenty of time to turn things around at the club. If he can get Man Utd winning trophies again, he'll be adored by everyone associated with the club.

But even before he's stepped foot in the dugout in England, United fans have already come up with a chant for him.

After he was officially announced by the club, a group of fans went viral with their, quite frankly, embarrassing chant for Ten Hag.

It went: “One Hag, Two Hag, Three Hag, Four Hag, Five Hag, Six Hag, Seven Hag, Eight Hag, Nine Hag, Ten Hag… Ten Hag, Ten Hag, Ten Hag, Ten Hag!”

Oh dear.

It was dubbed 'the worst chant of all time' and we're struggling to disagree.

What would Ten Hag make of it?

Well, fortunately for us, Dutch TV decided to show the outgoing Ajax boss the embarrassing chant.

His reaction?

Well, it was his lack of reaction that we enjoyed. Not a smile, not a chuckle, just a look of sheer confusion.

Let's hope supporters can come up with something a little more catchy in the coming months.

United finish their season with a trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday. They know a win would guarantee Europa League football next season. However, West Ham are just two points behind and will be looking to capitalise as they travel to Brighton.

Ten Hag will be hoping it's Europa League - and not Europa Conference League - for his new side next season.
