West Ham United are 'definitely keen' on striking a deal which will take Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips to the London Stadium, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The Hammers will go into the final day of the season knowing they have already qualified for European football through their league position in successive campaigns for the first time in their history, so it seems boss David Moyes has already turned his attention towards securing reinforcements during the summer transfer window.

What's the latest news involving Phillips?

According to The Sun, Moyes has set his sights on adding Phillips to his central midfield options and wants to reunite the Leeds man with his international team-mate Declan Rice.

The report suggests the 19-cap England ace is also on Manchester United's radar, but West Ham are eager to win the race for his signature.

It comes after the Hammers were frustrated in their efforts to seal the deal during the January transfer window, with Leeds turning down a £50million bid.

Additional competition for Phillips' services comes from Aston Villa, who are willing to part with £60million in order to sign the 26-year-old, and Newcastle United.

Phillips' Leeds contract, which is worth £38,000-per-week, is not due to expire until the summer of 2024.

What has Alex Crook said about Phillips?

Crook believes Phillips has a host of options at his disposal and among those on offer is a move to West Ham.

The talkSPORT reporter feels competing in Europe alongside England team-mate Rice will be appealing for the Leeds star.

Crook told GIVEMESPORT: "Kalvin Phillips, I think, has a decision to make. He might go either way and West Ham are definitely keen on him.

"It would offer him the chance to play in European football alongside Declan Rice and really cement that relationship ahead of maybe replicating it at the World Cup."

Is Phillips likely to join West Ham?

A huge factor is likely to be which division Leeds are plying their trade in next season and, with them only being a point clear of the Premier League's relegation zone, maintaining their top flight status is by no means a foregone conclusion.

West Ham have potentially been handed a further boost as it has emerged that Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has written a release clause into Phillips' contract and it can only be activated if they drop into the Championship.

That would result in the Hammers not having to pay as much as the £50million they were willing to spend on the central midfielder in January, which would have broken a club-record.
