Leicester: £120k-a-week star feels he's 'too good' to stay at King Power

There is a feeling at Leicester City that Youri Tielemans believes he is “too good” for the Premier League outfit, says insider Dean Jones.

The £120,000-a-week midfielder is yet to sign a new contract at the King Power and is currently being linked with a move to Arsenal.

What is the latest news involving Tielemans?

Earlier this month, talkSPORT reported that Arsenal were confident of signing Tielemans this summer.

The 25-year-old will be a free agent next year, meaning Leicester could have no choice but to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

As well as Arsenal, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich are also thought to be admirers of Tielemans, with 90min reporting on those clubs’ interest in the Belgian.

He has been a crucial player for Leicester since initially joining on loan from AS Monaco back in 2019, leading the Foxes to their first ever FA Cup trophy last season after scoring the winner in the 1-0 triumph over Chelsea.

What has Jones said about Tielemans and Leicester?

Given his importance, many at Leicester will not want to see Tielemans go. However, his time at the King Power does look to be coming to an end, with Jones telling GIVEMESPORT that the Belgium international feels that he has outgrown the club.

Speaking to GMS, the insider said: “Tielemans feels that he should be playing at a higher level. The feeling at Leicester is that Tielemans almost feels like he’s too good to still be at Leicester, and I’m not sure people around the club agree with that.”

Is Tielemans too good for Leicester?

In recent seasons, Leicester have probably matched Tielemans’ ambitions or near enough. Since he has been at the club, they have won the FA Cup, played in the Europa League and come close on more than one occasion to qualifying for the Champions League.

This campaign, however, has been less memorable, with Leicester missing out on European qualification altogether.

Do you know this obscure Leicester footballer from the 1990s?

A player of Tielemans’ quality, with former Foxes striker Emile Heskey telling GOAL last year that he would suit “any midfield and any team”, will not be happy with that.

So with Brendan Rodgers’ men having regressed this term, perhaps the former Monaco man has outgrown them and should seek pastures new.

Whatever happens this summer, Leicester and Tielemans have been a good combination. They gave him his first taste of English football, while the ex-Anderlecht star delivered the club their first FA Cup.
