The top-earning athletes aged 25 and under have recently been released by Sportico, with the list finding that a dozen athletes made $30 million or more this past year.
However, we’ll be focusing on the top 10 and what they managed to achieve sporting wise, as well as financial gains through salaries and endorsements.
Boston Celtics small forward Jayston Tatum comes in at 10th on the list, having earned $30.3 million this past year.
The 24-year-old has recently helped his team progress to Eastern Conference finals in the 2022 NBA playoffs and co-founded a candy shop Side Step Sweets that launched its first brand of gummies this year.
He also looks set to be another one of those top young NBA stars to get his own signature shoe with Nike’s Jordan brand.
Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell sees himself placed in the ninth spot, with the 25-year-old accumulating $32.5 million in this past year.
Coming in at eighth and seventh is Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, making $32.8 million and $35.5 million respectively.
Lawrence made the list mainly due to the $24.1 million from his signing bonus after being named the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Booker signed a big shoe-renewal contract with Nike and is most likely due to have his own signature shoe very soon and has two years left on his five-year $167 million deal with the Suns.
At the sixth spot is YouTube and social media star turned boxer Jake Paul.
The 25-year-old boasts two victories over mixed martial artists Tyron Woodley these past 12 months and made big prize money from both bouts.
He may also have a future in boxing promotion, as his Most Valuable Promotions made the bout between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden last month; one of the biggest fights in recent memory.
In a recent tweet celebrating this milestone, the youngest Paul brother said: “Made my pro debut January 30, 2020. 2 years & 4 months later, I’m the 6th highest-paid athlete in the world 25 and under.
“Hate me all you want… I’m just gonna prove you wrong.
“Next stop August 13th.”
The two athletes which have gained the fifth and fourth spots are Marshon Lattimore and Max Verstappen, both having earned $41 million and $43 million respectively.
Lattimore, 25, signed a $98 million deal in September 2021 and also accumulated a $23 million restructure bonus.
Dutch F1 sensation Verstappen, 24, racked up bonuses through 10 race wins and winning his first F1 World Championship, as well as signing a new contract putting his earnings on par with Lewis Hamilton’s at Mercedes.
Osaka made $53.2 million, even after her contract with IMG expired, at the end of last year and eventually lead the launch of Evolve, but most of her earnings came from seven career WTA title victories and four of those came at Grand Slam events.
Allen had the highest passer rating of 149 during last season’s playoffs and he was third in merchandise sales ranked only behind Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. He also has endorsement partnerships with Nike, New Era, Pepsi, AWS and Labatt Blue.
