Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas has called on his team to deliver a 'flawless' performance this weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Formula 1 heads to Barcelona this weekend and the familiar surroundings of the Circuit de Catalunya, for round six of the 2022 world championship.

Certainly, it's a track that all the drivers and teams know very well given how long it has been on the calendar and the fact it is used for pre-season testing during the winter.

That said, Bottas has called on Alfa to make sure they get everything spot on this weekend as there are no little secrets to the track that someone will know that others do not.

Speaking to Alfa Romeo's media team before the weekend, the Finn had this to say:

“We had a really strong showing in Miami and, with every good result, comes the confidence to push for more. We head to Barcelona knowing we can be in the fight for the front of the midfield again: we’re in the midst of an interesting battle with our direct rivals every weekend and I don’t expect this one to be any different.

"It is crucial we have a flawless weekend, here more than ever: Barcelona is a track that holds no secrets for any team, so there won’t be any silver bullet to find to be ahead of the others, it will be about execution and doing our homework.

"For sure, we arrive in Barcelona in a much happier state than when we left after winter testing, which is proof of how well this team has bounced back after the difficulties we encountered in February. I want to repay all this great work with a good result.”

Bottas is having a fine year in 2022 and is in that gaggle of cars behind Red Bull and Ferrari that are competing for the top of the midfield tag.

He's right to mention how much the Alfa has progressed since their issues in testing, too, and a positive result this weekend in Spain will only underline that further.
