Southampton could make changes to their coaching staff this summer following their collapse in the second half of the season, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Following some impressive results over the festive period and beyond, Ralph Hasenhuttl's side were on the cusp of the European places in the middle of February.

Premier League Final Day: Predictions, Scenarios and More

But just one Premier League victory in the last three months has seen the Saints slide desperately down the top-flight standings.

As a result, Crook reckons there could be a behind-the-scenes shakeup at St Mary's Stadium in the off-season.

What's the latest news involving Southampton?

After a slow start to the season, the South Coast outfit kicked into gear over Christmas, and came up with some fine results across a two-month period, which saw them beat the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and draw at Manchester United, while thrashing Brentford.

As a result, Southampton were within four points of Spurs at the end of February, following a five-match unbeaten run.

But since then, they've endured a woeful run of form, which has seen them collect just five points from a possible 33 available, and drop from ninth to 16th, having lost eight times during that period.

Supporters vented their frustration towards Hasenhuttl with chants of 'you don't know what you're doing' during the 3-0 defeat at Brentford earlier this month.

Regardless, the Austrian still has the backing of the owners, although Crook reckons that some of his coaching staff could be moved on at the end of the season.

What did Crook say about Southampton?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think they've carried out quite an in-depth review about what's gone wrong in the second half of the season, because they've barely won a game since mid-February.

"And I think there could even be some change on the coaching staff, not with Hasenhuttl, but maybe with the backroom set-up."

Is Hasenhuttl's job under threat?

The Southampton boss might have the hierarchy on his side heading into the summer, but that could quickly change if the Saints' form doesn't improve during the early parts of next season.

On a limited transfer budget, Hasenhuttl has largely done an impressive job, but his league finishes don't necessarily suggest that.

In his first full season, he guided Southampton to an 11th-place finish, although he wasn't able to build on that in 2020-2021 when his side came four places lower.

And after watching his team lose against Liverpool on Tuesday, they're now guaranteed to finish 15th once again, regardless of their final-day result at Leicester.
