Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku wants to have positive talks with Thomas Tuchel and the club now that the season is finished, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Belgian has endured a difficult time at Stamford Bridge this term, but it does not look like he is ready to throw in the towel.

What is the latest transfer speculation involving Lukaku?

After a campaign where Lukaku has been in and out of the Chelsea starting XI, the 29-year-old is now being linked with a move away from west London despite only arriving from Inter Milan last August.

Last month, GOAL reported that Inter's rivals AC Milan could be one possible destination for Lukaku this summer.

His return to the Bridge, which saw Chelsea spend £97.5m to make it happen, has not worked out, and he has been heavily criticised for some of his performances this term.

On Lukaku, who Transfermarkt now value at £76.5m, Manchester United legend Roy Keane said on Sky Sports (via Metro) at the end of April: "As much as his fitness levels, I think his attitude doesn’t seem right."

What has Jones said about Lukaku and Chelsea?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Lukaku wants to hold talks with Chelsea in a bid to convince them that he can still come good.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: "Lukaku has definitely got a determination to go into talks with Chelsea this or next month, convince them that he is worth keeping, convince them he doesn't want to leave and then come back for a new season, hoping that they play with the style of football that actually suits him. That's what he needs to be assured of right now."

Should Chelsea give Lukaku another season?

At one point, it looked like Lukaku was definitely heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door, to the benefit of all parties. As his agent told La Repubblica only last week, there is a "problem".

That being said, the £350,000-a-week Belgium international has shown signs of life this month after scoring in games against Wolves and Leeds and starting in the FA Cup final versus Liverpool.

Since then, there has been talk about Robert Lewandowski, with The Guardian claiming that the Bayern Munich striker is on Chelsea's radar.

However, the 33-year-old joining Tuchel's side seems highly unlikely, as Bayern continue to put up a fight to keep hold of their talisman. So if Tuchel is willing to continue using Lukaku, as he has been in recent weeks, perhaps it is worth giving this whole thing another shot next season.
