Southampton would be an ideal destination for young Manchester City striker Liam Delap, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay.
The 19-year-old, son of ex-midfielder Rory Delap, is on the Saints' radar this summer and Barclay reckons that he would fit the bill at St Mary's Stadium.

Following his exploits for City in Premier League 2, Southampton are interested in the teenager, who looks set to spend the 2022-2023 season out on loan following just a handful of appearances in Pep Guardiola's first team.
Delap, 6 ft 1, has scored 32 goals in 32 games for City's Under-23s, which caught the attention of several EFL clubs in January.
But now The Sun believe that Southampton are hoping to offer the youngster, who was described as a 'killer' striker by Pep Guardiola, Premier League football following his lack of game-time under the Spaniard.
Southampton have utilised the youth market this season, with Chelsea youngster Armando Broja a success on loan this term, while Tino Livramento also enjoyed a fine first campaign with the Saints following his permanent move from Stamford Bridge.
Therefore, Barclay reckons that St Mary's could be the ideal place for Delay to learn his trade and get top-flight experience.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "He definitely fits the profile, and given the season he's had, maybe a loan to Southampton, following the Broja path, would be a really good move for him."

How has Delap performed this season?
Despite receiving high praise from Guardiola back in February, it's generally been a frustrating season for the frontman.
Delap has played just 15 matches across all age groups, although one of which did see him make his Champions League debut as a late substitute in City's 5-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon in the last 16.

But that came after Delap was on the verge of getting his chance to shine in the first-team following City's failure to sign a striker last summer, only for an ankle injury to keep him out for the best part of six months.
He has since returned to score eight goals in 10 games in Premier League 2, but Delap will be hoping to stay injury-free and kick on next season in what could be his first proper taste of top-flight football.
