Tottenham will hope to loan out Dane Scarlett to an EFL club next season, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The 17-year-old has been one of the hottest prospects in the academy for several years, but Bridge reckons that regular first-team football should be the next step in his development.

What's the latest news involving Scarlett?

Despite making just 16 appearances across all age groups this season, it's been another productive campaign for the teenager.

Scarlett has just one top-flight outing to his name this term, a three-minute cameo at Leeds back in February, but he did make his first senior start back in August, and has gone on to add another two, all of which came in the Europa Conference League.

But with Antonio Conte, who said that Scarlett is set for a 'brilliant future', hoping sign a striker in the summer, the youngster could be pushed down the pecking order.

Despite high praise from Conte, and also Jose Mourinho, who handed him his senior debut, Bridge reckons that Scarlett needs to be loaned out.

What did Bridge say about Scarlett?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "The encouraging thing for him is that Mourinho was so excited about him, and Conte has mentioned him constantly.

"It will come down to what Tottenham can do in the market, but I'm sure they're bound to want to get him out on loan to an EFL club, I'd be stunned if they didn't."

Would a loan move be the right decision?

While Scarlett will have no doubt benefitted a great deal from training alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Heung Min Son on a daily basis, a loan deal has to be next on his list.

Scarlett still has time on his side, but he has looked out of place during his handful of first-team appearances this season.

Therefore, getting regular experience in either League One or League Two should help him more than staying at Tottenham, especially if Conte's side do qualify for the Champions League this weekend, which will decrease his chances of game-time even further.

Tottenham have already seen Troy Parrott make huge strides while out on loan at MK Dons this season, and they'll be hoping for a similar outcome should they decide to do the same with Scarlett.
