The Outer Worlds 2 has finally been announced and is in development. Here’s what we know so far about this upcoming title.
During Microsoft and Bethesda’s E3 showcase in the summer of last year, Obsidian came out and revealed The Outer Worlds 2, a sequel to the popular RPG from Obsidian.
For the uninitiated, the first The Outer Worlds game was released in 2019 and is set in an alternate future that branched in 1901, when U.S. President William McKinley is not assassinated by Leon Czolgosz at the Pan-American Exposition.
It sported stunning visuals, challenging decision choices, and a dark sense of humour. With The Outer Worlds 2 finally being in the works, we can expect Obsidian to take everything a notch higher, especially the whole open world design.
With that said, here’s everything we know so far about The Outer Worlds 2.
The Outer Worlds 2 Release Date
The answer to when The Outer Worlds 2 is releasing is something most fans are looking for; however, unfortunately, the game has no release date just yet. The Outer Worlds 2 is still in development, which means that it will be a while till we get to hear or see any concrete release date or window.
Based on pure speculation, we’d say the earliest the game could be ready is sometime in 2023.
The Outer Worlds 2 Trailer
Xbox and Obsidian treated players with a hilarious and somewhat 4th wall breaking announcement trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 which managed to stick through.
The nearly 2-minute long announcement video was as self-aware and made fun of video game trailers, taking a dig at how these trailers are presented. Towards the end of the trailer, it was revealed that “the developers haven’t finished the [main character’s] design. Or finished the story. Or finished any gameplay that’s ready to show. The only thing [the developers] have finished is the title.”
What Platforms is The Outer Worlds 2 available on?
Since Obsidian is now owned by Xbox and Microsoft The Outer Worlds 2 will be a PC and Xbox only title. The game will launch on Xbox Series X/S and Windows 10. As is the case with most Xbox games, The Outer Worlds 2 will be available via Xbox Game Pass on day one at no additional cost.
What else is known about The Outer Worlds 2
Obsidian Entertainment via their tweet revealed the following when they announced the game: “New star system. New crew. Same Outer Worlds.” While this doesn’t seem much at the start, it does confirm a new setting with new characters. However, it’s unclear where the game will be set in and what all characters will be returning. That’s all we currently know about The Outer Worlds 2.
